Since I am moving and will stop caring about the State of Wisconsin here is part one of my last posts.

Those who call people who disagree with Obama or any left leaning person/group idiots,bigots, etc:
FUCK YOU. Everyone has there own opinion, I tolerate your view so tolerate mine. If I believe Obama is a bad choice for POTUS it is based on his LIMITED record and NOT his skin color.
Gov Diamond Jim Doyle and the rest of the tax and spend crowd in Madison(EVERYONE) should immediately have all the assets they have be confiscated. So they can really "feel the pain" they are inflicting on the hard working people.
To Eugene Kane and the local media:
You are the bigots, hate mongering, close minded people you so rally against. The venom you spew on a regular basis against people that disagree with you is truly amazing. Yet you really do not see it. At least I admit when I am called out on being closed minded. I do not judge a person on skin color, I base my opinion on actions and words.
The local media claiming the are Milwaukee's News leaders or whatever, you DO NOT COVER ALL OF MILWAUKEE!! On a regular basis I see more stories from I-94 north to Port Washington, from the lake to Okachee. Rarely do I hear anything about anything from I-94 south to the county line and from the lake west to the Waukesha county line. And don't give me the BULLSHIT excuse that nothing happens, It happens on this side of town also.

I do ride in the rain. I wear rain gear. My tires are sticker than your car tires. I drive slower.
I wear my seat belt when I'm in the car. (Do you?)

I do not squeeze in between cars on the highway. I do not hide in your blind spot. I do not pass on the right. I do not travel with excessive speed.

I do not talk on my cell phone. I do not read the news paper. I do not shave while driving. I do not floss while driving. I do not ride distracted.

I do not drive under any influences other than pure adrenaline.

Riding makes me happy.

I do have reflectors on the back of my bags. I do wear reflective clothing.

I do the speed limit (+/- 10mph)
I do use my turn signal.
I do use hand signals in emergency situations.
I do wear my helmet.
I do leave distance between me and other vehicles on the road.

Why would I drive the car when only I need to go somewhere? Why waste the wear and tear on my car if I don't need to. Why not enjoy myself on my travels?

Why must you tell me about that motorcycle you saw doing 120+ mph on the highway the other day?
Why must you tell me about that rider that died last weekend?
Why must you tell me about that guy you saw in shorts and flip flops?
Why must you tell me it is dangerous to ride to work/home in the rain?
Why must you tell me about your brother in-law that goes bar to bar?
Why must you tell me I'm crazy?
Why must you tell me I'm Evil Knievel?

There is very little consideration lately of other people. My time is not less important than your time, just because I am the seller or not in your inner circle it does not make me less important.
Case in point, I received a call from my realitor Tuesday afternoon to show the house on Wednesday at 11am to 12pm. No problem, we were able to straighten up and get the house in showing condition. Well 11am Wednesday came and I was ready to let the potential buyer and agent in as I waited an hour no body showed. At 12:05pm I called my realitor and he informed me that they called him not 5 minites before I called him to cancel. The other party NEW before the appointment that they were not going to show.
My simple rule of thumbs are:
1. Be on time
2. If you are going to be late ... call the person you are to meet to inform them
3. If you need to cancel the appointment or meeting ... call the person BEFORE the time.

A. I don't have a Harley.

A. No it is a sport touring bike
Q. Why didn't you get a Harley?
A. Several reasons. I did not want one, can't afford one and this bike came with what I wanted

This usually degenerates into the buy American area or the old American bikes are better quality B.S. to which I answer 1- Harley's are too expensive and 2- I have seen and heard more issues with H.D. products than I have heard about with my Yamaha 3- Look at where all the H.D. gear is made(hint it aint in the USA).

Motorcycle Awareness and foolishness

I heard this morning that there have been 17 motorcycle deaths so far this year. From listening to the on air report and seeing it online at Motorcycle Deaths Rising In Wisconsin I have a few issues I have with the article.
1. The guy from ABATE is supposed to represent the motorcyclists and promote safety. This guy is not wearing a helmet, Which protects the head in case of a crash.
2. Yes when the weather gets warm the more motorcycles come out that's a given.
3. The one liner at the end "The Department of Transportation said almost half of fatal motorcycle crashes involve alcohol" leaves me scratching my head. Leaves me wondering was the motorcyclist drunk or was it someone else?
4. The ABATE guy is quoted as saying "Slower lane deviation, I see cars too, they change lanes very quickly and if a biker is there, there's bound to be a crash,". So when I go to change lanes after I look to see if its clear I can take my sweet time getting over?

The bottom line is all drivers NEED to watch out for other cars,trucks,motorcycles,scooters and anything or anybody on or near the roadways.

Here is a story from Illinois that saddens everyone nail polish killer.

To sum it up, this woman is driving and applying nail polish and not paying attention to the road runs a red light and slams into a motorcyclist who is proceeding legally and kills the motorcyclist. So far she has not been charged in the death but has been ticketed with "failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident" and further charges are pending.

Idiots like this woman who decide to drive with little disregard to others should be banned from having a vehicle and licenses. If a death occurs the perp should serve a minimum term of life.

Headline from WISN reads: State Democrats Oppose Walker's Motorcycle Tour

To sum it up the Democrats think that Scott Walker is using public money to go on a ride and use this as a campaign tool for his gubernatorial bid. And they claim he can nit be trusted to keep his campaign for Governor and the promotion of the Milwaukee area.
To quote from the article "We all know that Walker is set to launch his campaign next Tuesday, and this is nothing more than a thinly-veiled campaign tour designed to get Walker media exposure in markets around the state," said Jason Stephany of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
That could be further from the truth. Mr. Walker has been doing this ride around the state for several years to promote the Milwaukee area without using it a campaigning tool for himself.
The Democrats need to take the eyes off of Governor "Diamond" Jim Doyle's sagging approval ratings, proposed tax hikes, fund raids, semi-scandals, and lies in order to keep the power they have gotten.

Big stuffed gorilla goes flying

Apr. 11, 2009 3:25 p.m. | Duluth, Minn. — John Bray is looking for the person who lost a massive gorilla on Blatnik Bridge in Duluth.

Bray says he was driving across the bridge Thursday afternoon when a huge stuffed brown stuffed animal flew off the truck in front of him. Bray says it flew up 50 feet and came down in the middle of the road.

He says he pulled over and traffic stopped. He then shoved it into the back of his sports utility vehicle and brought it to his office. He’s a spokesman for the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Bray says it was a funny incident but someone could have been seriously hurt. He says the driver is required by law to have a load tied down, but he or she won’t get a ticket.

He says the driver could be a Wisconsin resident because the truck was coming from there.

This came out after the announcement of the CEO's pay raise and other "compensation increases". Where is the outrage,the hand wringing, the call for caps on CEO pay????

Most employees at all Journal Communications divisions will take a 6% pay cut for the remainder of the year and in return will get 10 additional personal days off under a plan announced Thursday by Steven J. Smith, the company's chairman of the board and CEO.

In a letter sent to employees, Smith said the pay reduction and time off are a reflection of weak advertising spending.

"There is a high probability that this environment will continue for at least the balance of 2009," Smith said. "As we manage for the long-term success of the company, we must identify constructive ways to continue to reduce costs."

The pay cuts and time off affect executives, managers, market managers, supervisors, as well as corporate staff. The company is also asking on-air broadcast talent and most union employees to negotiate payroll reductions.

The program will be implemented at Journal Communications, Journal Broadcast Group, Journal Sentinel and Journal Community Publishing Group.

This week, the company also offered a voluntary separation agreement to newsroom employees represented by Newspaper Guild Local 51. The company has told the Guild that it needs to cut $1.2 million in annual payroll.

Roundabouts

This love affair with roundabouts is getting out of hand. Now they want to place a whole bunch on south 27th street at some very interesting locations. The one that gets me is Sycamore Street which is the entrance and exit for Wal-mart and Sam's Club. Right now its bad enough to get in and out of those lots, the roundabout would make things worse (in my opinion).

Flooding

I do not feel sorry for those who live adjacent to any body of water that is prone to flooding. Sure the view from your back door is nice most of the time, but there is the high risk you took when you bought the property that you would be flooded out at least once or twice a year. BTW you should not whine about the high premium for flood insurance or expect the government to bail you out every time your property gets damaged from the floods.
My solution to these people is:

the first claim is paid so you can rebuild

The second claim the State or the Federal government now owns the property

This would save the taxpayers and insurance companies money, create a buffer zone around the river/creek or lake. By creating the buffer zone it would help in cleaning up the pollution that plagues the area water bodies.

Smith earned no bonus, but his salary rose 3.7% to $798,077. He received stock awards worth $1,672 and option awards valued at $397,003, a proxy statement for the Milwaukee-based media company and publisher of the Journal Sentinel said. The biggest change in compensation was in the value of Smith's retirement benefits, which grew to $233,110, compared with $74,782 in 2007. He received other compensation last year worth $16,095.

Journal Communications posted a $224.4 million loss in 2008, largely due to $228.7 million in non-cash charges in the fourth quarter as the company wrote down the value of goodwill and some of its television and radio licenses. The company's newspaper, radio and TV operations also saw declines in revenue because of the recession and the ongoing migration of ads to the Internet. Its stock price fell 72.6% during 2008.

With all the talk from the editorial board and from the other media outlets about capping CEO pay at 500k they are letting this slide. Why? Oh thats right its one of there own.

I feel I need to bring this up again since riding season is about to start.

Tailgating: this is not acceptable unless you are on a race track. Tailgating a bike is dangerous to the biker. If we have to stop in a hurry,the truck/car/minivan/SUV behind a bike will severely injure the biker and passenger.

Secure/cover your load: this one applies to all those dump trucks, pickups, and those who haul stuff to the dump. Please cover your load so it is not blowing out of the truck. It's not so bad when you are in a car, but on a bike it can be very bad. I have been pelted by a fine dust from the back of a dump truck and it felt like I was in a sandblaster.

Awareness: be aware that there are motorcycles out there. Just because you don't here one, there might be one.

Blindspots: On a bike the blindspots are larger. They have no rear view mirror, just the 2 that are on the handlebars. If we can't see you, we don't know you are there.
Racing: Just because I have a sportier looking motorcycle does not mean I will race you down the road.
Respect: When you see a motorcycle rider either on the road or in a restaurant,bar, or where ever treat them the same way you want to be treated. They could be a doctor, lawyer, judge, engineer or any in other profession. We are not all in the Hells Angels.

My wife got a letter over the weekend from the State Patrol. According to them they linked via the driver license database and vehicle registration database and found that she is a part owner of a motorcycle and does not have the proper endorsement to operate it. I am the only one in the house that rides the motorcycle and she is on the title of the bike because this is a community property state.
My thinking is ... WT H, They can do this but they can not do the Real ID checks?

He came and gave us some bad news, the heat exchanger is cracked. He gave us the option to either replace the part or get a new furnace.

Another Wal-Mart Post

We all have heard that the family of the poor gentleman who got trampled to death at the Wal-Mart store near NYC. Well, I have a little advice for the family and lawyers even tho I'm not a lawyer.
1. Sue every department/big chain store in the nation!
Wal-Mart did not create the atmosphere in which this tragedy occurred. That company has only followed what the competition had started. A lot of stores have/or offer so called "early bird" specials. I rememember stores offering anyone who entered the store additional discounts if they where there inbetween 5am and 7am.
2. Sue/go after anyone that bought anything immediately after the incident.
If they paid by check or credit card it would be easy to find them. These people are the ones who really created the mab mentality that day.

The Cudahy Common Council's decision to reject a proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter is disappointing, but the world's largest retailer will look for other ways to serve customers in that area, a company spokeswoman said today.

Wal-Mart spokeswoman Lisa Nelson declined to say whether the Tuesday night council vote has definitely killed plans for a Supercenter, a combined supermarket and discount store, in Cudahy. For now, she said, Wal-Mart will focus on its other Milwaukee-area planned Supercenters, including projects in Waukesha, Muskego, Franklin and Milwaukee's south side.

The 137,000-square-foot Cudahy Supercenter was to anchor a retail development proposed by Continental Properties Co. for 26 acres, south of E. Layton Ave., between S. Nicholson Ave. and Sweet Applewood Lane. That is the site of the failed Iceport project.

What in the heck are they thinking? With the economy the way it is why turn down a job creating business. Oh, that's because it's Wal-Mart. With the loss of so many factory jobs in the area these towns and cities need to really look at what Wal-Mart and other big box stores would bring.

Look at every Wal-Mart and what do you see,other business's building around them! At the old Capitol Court you have a new mall that is either full or darn near it. The old Southgate Mall area has started to recover. In short, get over this anti Wal-Mart mentality and start rebuilding the local economy.

I have a question for all the news & weather people, Why do y'all get so damn exited every time there might/is snow coming to southeastern Wisconsin??? It's not like we never get any, for goodness sakes we got enough last year. Sure, we the average blokes want to know if it is coming but get a grip. In reading blogs and other forums it appears that the Democrats and the left are very hostile in their comments on posts, even when things go their way. They cannot find any happiness in their lives so they need to make those who are happy or positive miserable.

When someone has a religion, the left attacks that religion.(except Muslim)
If someone works hard and reaps the benefits of their labor the left wants to guilt the person(s) into thinking it is evil.
If someone criticizes them they go into name calling, race card playing, verbal and/or physical intimidation.

Please don't use the false argument that it is the Republicans and the right that does #3 all the time. This does not fly with me on any level. That is because it very rarely happens and if it does it would be well documented and frankly I have yet to see any news stories that are credible.

My Second rant about Motorcycling. Everything in blue I have covered before:

Tailgating: this is not acceptable unless you are on a race track. Tailgating a bike is dangerous to the biker. If we have to stop in a hurry,the truck/car/minivan/SUV behind a bike will severely injure the biker and passenger.

Awareness: be aware that there are motorcycles out there. Just because you don't here one, there might be one.

Here I sit at the keyboard on a Friday afternoon with little good to say so I will let my filter rest.

First of all WTF are the voters in Milwaukee thinking?? Passing an tax raise proposed by the county board. You all should be ashamed of yourselves, I do NOT want to hear from those who claim they were misled by the wording or it's to lower property taxes. Those lines are bulls&$t!!! The last raise they got they claimed the same thing and did the property tax go down??? NO. As far as the wording of the question, Yes at first glance it was a little confusing but after reading it over a second time it becomes clear.

Second, I am sick and tired of the coverage by EVERYONE in this last election cycle. Here are some reasons:
The MSM

for the non stop gushing over Obama
For ignoring stories that reflect negatively on Obama
The negative tone towards anyone who disagreed
The race & income baiting

Bloggers/New Media

For the negativity towards Obama
following the Obama's lead of race/class baiting in spending time writing about it
The negative tone towards anyone who disagreed

I know that not everyone in the MSM and the Blogger worlds fell into this, but enough did.

Thank you junior Jackson/McGee. You have turned another street into a mob scene. Your suggestion of using Miller Park for "cruising" was misunderstood by some of those who where using Capital Drive to mean Miller Park Way. I found out around 2330hrs (11:30PM) when I witnessed some fools blowing a red light on Miller Park Way (South 43rd st) around Lincoln Ave while we were returning from the sis-in-laws.

I noticed that you (Jackson/McGee) did not offer any streets or other venues near where you live. Instead you just want to make others miserable. I have a better spot for those who want to "cruise" like what has been happening on Capital Dr and now Miller Park Way, go to 5th street and "cruise" from Wisconsin Ave north.

I just love this story from the JS "Wisconsin dips to No. 6 in tax burden" "Different ranking says No. 14".

I'm so happy we dropped somewhat, but we can do more to lower things.

In the article it has this - "Per capita, the group said, Wisconsin ranked somewhat lower at 12th in the nation, with an average tax burden of $3,714 a person. A third measure, focusing only on the "big three" state and local taxes that most individuals pay - income, sales and property taxes - ranked Wisconsin third overall, behind only New York and Maine, the group said." Add in other "fees" and taxes, we might be higher.

(logic check)Link this with the stories on business's leaving Wisconsin, the Milwaukee County Board wanting anywhere from a 1/4% to a 1% INCREASE in sales taxes, some Milwaukee Common Council members wanting trollies, MATC wanting more $$$$, the list goes on and on, and what do you get? A TAX HECK!!!

But according to the left we don't live in one. They just want to add more spending and finance them through more "fees", "sin" taxes, and outright tax hikes.

My first annual rant about Motorcycling. No I will not complain about bikers, but it's the others on the roads that I will rant about. Here is a list of complaints I have about you 4 wheeled folks (you know who you are):

Awareness: be aware that there are motorcycles out there. Just because you don't here one, there might be one.

Blindspots: On a bike the blindspots are larger. They have no rear view mirror, just the 2 that are on the handlebars. If we can't see you, we don't know you are there.

Bought a camera and programs so I can do video on the internet
I own a portable MP3 player
I look for places that have wireless internet
I have lost interest in woodworking
Family and friends come to me for computer problems and advice
I now have DVR with caller ID
I get withdrawals if I am away from the TV or computers for more than 1 hour
I want to expand my wireless network to include the garage
I wrote this in the "reading" room on my laptop (both hands)
I no longer have a healthy tan and I am becoming allergic to sunlight
I write down websites that I see advertised and visit them, even tho I am not interested in the product
The Microsoft Windows sounds comfort me

GPS transmitters on convicted sex offenders who targeted children is a good idea, but we need to add another group to this program. We need to add multiple drunk drivers. I don't mean just the ones that have 2 DUI's in the last 10 years, but those who have 2 or more in less than 5 years. There are many stories that some that have upwards of 5 or more DUI convictions, these people are still drinking and driving. This is in addition to making it a felony for the 3rd and additional conviction.

Illegal immigrant Protests

I was reading the JS article on the protests and a few things in the story caught my attention.

All this over the idea of craking down on the ILLEGAL's that are either in this country or about to enter.

On Monday, California's Cesar Chavez Day, more than 22,000 students marched out of Los Angeles-area schools, including the San Fernando Valley and the wealthy coastal enclave of Pacific Palisades, said Monica Carazo, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles school district.

Note: High School students.

In some areas, teachers and administrators walked with students "as a safety measure," Carazo said.

Ya I believe that.

"I want you to know that there are people right now all across the country that agree with you that we need immigration reform that rewards work, that gives people a pathway to citizenship, that allows families to stay together," Villaraigosa told the crowd.

But he drew jeers when he added: "Now that you've come, it's important that you go back to school."

Of course the kids 'jeered'

"We are illegal immigrants if you trace our heritage all the way back, but we are here and we are working and we are living the American dream," said Janet Padron, a 22-year-old Allen Park resident.

Not my family, we came here LEGALLY.

"Do you see the community?" Padron asked, pointing to the thousands of people around her. "Do you see how many people didn't go to work today?"

Lets see:

High school students work when in school ... nope

Teachers and administrors ... maybe

College students ... nope

Detroit ... unemployment rate of 7.6%, good chance of some having no work and plenty of time to 'protest'

Missing Children

I thought about putting the info about the 2 missing boys on the blog. But the MSM and a few other bloggers like Badger Blogger(see link) and Texas Hold 'Em Blogger have the story and more details.

Through my work I have to go out into the field to take notes, and the times I was out this past week I did keep an extra eye out for these missing kids.

My prayers and thoughts are with the families of these 2 boys.

Headline in the MJS "State to secretly test W-2 program". Whaaaaat? How can you secretly test when you make a public announcement saying you are going to secretly test? It's no longer a secret then.

After getting past that messy headline, the state is going to use secret shoppers ala private sector business. Great, now will they use this for other agency's? I know of several that could use this sort of thing. Like the DMV, DNR, DOT, the Guv and Legislature.

COB XXX - The short version

This weeks COB is based on the tale by Hans Christian Anderson titled The Loveliest Rose in the World. It is a little long, but it is shorter than what I had originally planned to use (thanks Aaron and Belle).

THERE lived once a great queen, in whose garden were found at all seasons the most splendid flowers, and from every land in the world. She specially loved roses, and therefore she possessed the most beautiful varieties of this flower, from the wild hedge-rose, with its apple-scented leaves, to the splendid Provence rose. They grew near the shelter of the walls, wound themselves round columns and window-frames, crept along passages and over the ceilings of the halls. They were of every fragrance and color.

But care and sorrow dwelt within these halls; the queen lay upon a sick bed, and the doctors declared that she must die. “There is still one thing that could save her,” said one of the wisest among them. “Bring her the loveliest rose in the world; one which exhibits the purest and brightest love, and if it is brought to her before her eyes close, she will not die.”

Then from all parts came those who brought roses that bloomed in every garden, but they were not the right sort. The flower must be one from the garden of love; but which of the roses there showed forth the highest and purest love? The poets sang of this rose, the loveliest in the world, and each named one which he considered worthy of that title; and intelligence of what was required was sent far and wide to every heart that beat with love; to every class, age, and condition.

“No one has yet named the flower,” said the wise man. “No one has pointed out the spot where it blooms in all its splendor. It is not a rose from the coffin of Romeo and Juliet, or from the grave of Walburg, though these roses will live in everlasting song. It is not one of the roses which sprouted forth from the blood-stained fame of Winkelreid. The blood which flows from the breast of a hero who dies for his country is sacred, and his memory is sweet, and no rose can be redder than the blood which flows from his veins. “Yes, one far more lovely,” said one of the women. “I have seen it, and a loftier and purer rose does not bloom. But it was white, like the leaves of a blush-rose. I saw it on the cheeks of the queen. She had taken off her golden crown, and through the long, dreary night, she carried her sick child in her arms. She wept over it, kissed it, and prayed for it as only a mother can pray in that hour of her anguish.”

“Holy and wonderful in its might is the white rose of grief, but it is not the one we seek.”

“No; the loveliest rose in the world I saw at the Lord’s table,” said the good old bishop. “I saw it shine as if an angel’s face had appeared. A young maiden knelt at the altar, and renewed the vows made at her baptism; and there were white roses and red roses on the blushing cheeks of that young girl. She looked up to heaven with all the purity and love of her young spirit, in all the expression of the highest and purest love.”

“May she be blessed!” said the wise man: “but no one has yet named the loveliest rose in the world.”

Then there came into the room a child—the queen’s little son. Tears stood in his eyes, and glistened on his cheeks; he carried a great book and the binding was of velvet, with silver clasps. “Mother,” cried the little boy; “only hear what I have read.” And the child seated himself by the bedside, and read from the book of Him who suffered death on the cross to save all men, even who are yet unborn.
