What I need

This little poem by Keats sums up what I am feeling right now.

O soft embalmer of the still midnight!
Shutting, with careful fingers and benign,
Our gloom-pleased eyes, embowered from the light,
Enshaded in forgetfulness divine;
O soothest Sleep! if so it please thee, close,
In midst of this thine hymn, my willing eyes,
Or wait the amen, ere thy poppy throws

Question for Catholics

Can anyone explain to me that "Fat Tuesday" is the big party then from Ash Wednesday to Easter is lent and you all are supposed to abstain during, but in between is St. Patty's day which is nothing but a big drinking day?

2009 Motorcycle Rant

I feel I need to bring this up again since riding season is about to start.

Tailgating: this is not acceptable unless you are on a race track. Tailgating a bike is dangerous to the biker. If we have to stop in a hurry,the truck/car/minivan/SUV behind a bike will severely injure the biker and passenger.

Secure/cover your load: this one applies to all those dump trucks, pickups, and those who haul stuff to the dump. Please cover your load so it is not blowing out of the truck. It's not so bad when you are in a car, but on a bike it can be very bad. I have been pelted by a fine dust from the back of a dump truck and it felt like I was in a sandblaster.

Awareness: be aware that there are motorcycles out there. Just because you don't here one, there might be one.

Blindspots: On a bike the blindspots are larger. They have no rear view mirror, just the 2 that are on the handlebars. If we can't see you, we don't know you are there.
Racing: Just because I have a sportier looking motorcycle does not mean I will race you down the road.
Respect: When you see a motorcycle rider either on the road or in a restaurant,bar, or where ever treat them the same way you want to be treated. They could be a doctor, lawyer, judge, engineer or any in other profession. We are not all in the Hells Angels.

Another WTH moment

My wife got a letter over the weekend from the State Patrol. According to them they linked via the driver license database and vehicle registration database and found that she is a part owner of a motorcycle and does not have the proper endorsement to operate it. I am the only one in the house that rides the motorcycle and she is on the title of the bike because this is a community property state.
My thinking is ... WT H, They can do this but they can not do the Real ID checks?

Saturday Night

Another peaceful Saturday night .... NOT. We have our 10 year old niece & 6 year old nephew over night. Neither one can be silent for more than a few seconds.

Furnace

Back on the 19th of January I posted that the furnace had gone out on the coldest day of the season. Well about 2 weeks ago we started smelling a foul odor and called our heating guy. He came and gave us some bad news, the heat exchanger is cracked. He gave us the option to either replace the part or get a new furnace.
