Silence Broken

OK, I know I've been silent for awhile. It's been due to some issues I've been dealing with that I don't want to get into at this time. But I will be posting again. I am working out a timetable as to what days I will be posting. Thanks to all for your patience.

Mark Reardon

I found out where Mark landed. He has a gig In St. Louis on KMOX, he is on from 0200 to 0500 (2am to 5am) weekdays.

I DISLIKE JACKSON/MCGEE JR

Thank you junior Jackson/McGee. You have turned another street into a mob scene. Your suggestion of using Miller Park for "cruising" was misunderstood by some of those who where using Capital Drive to mean Miller Park Way. I found out around 2330hrs (11:30PM) when I witnessed some fools blowing a red light on Miller Park Way (South 43rd st) around Lincoln Ave while we were returning from the sis-in-laws.
I noticed that you (Jackson/McGee) did not offer any streets or other venues near where you live. Instead you just want to make others miserable. I have a better spot for those who want to "cruise" like what has been happening on Capital Dr and now Miller Park Way, go to 5th street and "cruise" from Wisconsin Ave north.

Memorable Words

In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. From time to time we've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price.

We hear much of special interest groups. Well, our concern must be for a special interest group that has been too long neglected. It knows no sectional boundaries or ethnic and racial divisions, and it crosses political party lines. It is made up of men and women who raise our food, patrol our streets, man our mines and factories, teach our children, keep our homes, and heal us when we're sick -- professionals, industrialists, shopkeepers, clerks, cabbies, and truckdrivers. They are, in short, ``We the people,'' this breed called Americans.

Well, this administration's objective will be a healthy, vigorous, growing economy that provides equal opportunities for all Americans with no barriers born of bigotry or discrimination. Putting America back to work means putting all Americans back to work. Ending inflation means freeing all Americans from the terror of runaway living costs. All must share in the productive work of this ``new beginning,'' and all must share in the bounty of a revived economy. With the idealism and fair play which are the core of our system and our strength, we can have a strong and prosperous America, at peace with itself and the world.

So, as we begin, let us take inventory. We are a nation that has a government -- not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the Earth. Our government has no power except that granted it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.

Were number 6

I just love this story from the JS "Wisconsin dips to No. 6 in tax burden" "Different ranking says No. 14".
I'm so happy we dropped somewhat, but we can do more to lower things.
In the article it has this - "Per capita, the group said, Wisconsin ranked somewhat lower at 12th in the nation, with an average tax burden of $3,714 a person. A third measure, focusing only on the "big three" state and local taxes that most individuals pay - income, sales and property taxes - ranked Wisconsin third overall, behind only New York and Maine, the group said." Add in other "fees" and taxes, we might be higher.

(logic check)Link this with the stories on business's leaving Wisconsin, the Milwaukee County Board wanting anywhere from a 1/4% to a 1% INCREASE in sales taxes, some Milwaukee Common Council members wanting trollies, MATC wanting more $$$$, the list goes on and on, and what do you get? A TAX HECK!!!

But according to the left we don't live in one. They just want to add more spending and finance them through more "fees", "sin" taxes, and outright tax hikes.

Bike

My first annual rant about Motorcycling. No I will not complain about bikers, but it's the others on the roads that I will rant about. Here is a list of complaints I have about you 4 wheeled folks (you know who you are):
Tailgating: this is not acceptable unless you are on a race track. Tailgating a bike is dangerous to the biker. If we have to stop in a hurry, the truck/car/minivan/SUV behind a bike will severly injure the biker and passenger.
Secure/cover your load: this one applies to all those dump trucks, pickups, and those who haul stuff to the dump. Please cover your load so it is not blowing out of the truck. It's not so bad when you are in a car, but on a bike it can be very bad. I have been pelted by a fine dust from the back of a dump truck and it felt like I was in a sandblaster.
Awareness: be aware that there are motorcycles out there. Just because you don't here one, there might be one.
Blindspots: On a bike the blindspots are larger. They have no rear view mirror, just the 2 that are on the handlebars. If we can't see you, we don't know you are there.

Lest We Forget

"We began by letting the world know what we stood for once again. Winston Churchill said of his service in World War II, the nation ``had the lion's heart. I had the luck to give the roar.'' Well, America is the lion's heart of democracy. We have an obligation to give that democracy a voice, even an occasional roar.

For too long our nation had been moot to the injustices of totalitarianism. So we began speaking out against chemical warfare; inflicted on the people of Afghanistan and Southeast Asia, against broken treaties, against the denial of human liberties. We began speaking out for freedom and democracy and the values that all of us share in our hearts.

Now some critics said that this was a return to the rhetoric of the past. Well, if that's the case, then Sakharov and Solzhenitsyn and all those who've suffered to speak the truth are my compatriots, and I'm honored to be counted among them. This nation cannot simply ignore the suffering of oppressed peoples and remain true to our basic strengths and principles. We cannot follow a foreign policy based on the self-delusion that problems would not exist if we did not mention them. We cannot abdicate our obligation to speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves.

And, you know, it's amazing. In my meetings with foreign leaders and their ministers, they've told me how good it is to know what the United States stands for once again. They may not always agree with us, but they respect us. And there's a growing recognition abroad that America once again will stand up for her democratic ideals. Our country is the leader of the free world, and today it is providing that leadership." Ronald Reagan - August 15, 1983

GPS transmitters

GPS transmitters on convicted sex offenders who targeted children is a good idea, but we need to add another group to this program. We need to add multiple drunk drivers. I don't mean just the ones that have 2 DUI's in the last 10 years, but those who have 2 or more in less than 5 years. There are many stories that some that have upwards of 5 or more DUI convictions, these people are still drinking and driving. This is in addition to making it a felony for the 3rd and additional conviction.

Illegal immigrant Protests

I was reading the JS article on the protests and a few things in the story caught my attention.
All this over the idea of craking down on the ILLEGAL's that are either in this country or about to enter.
On Monday, California's Cesar Chavez Day, more than 22,000 students marched out of Los Angeles-area schools, including the San Fernando Valley and the wealthy coastal enclave of Pacific Palisades, said Monica Carazo, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles school district.
Note: High School students.
In some areas, teachers and administrators walked with students "as a safety measure," Carazo said.
Ya I believe that.
"I want you to know that there are people right now all across the country that agree with you that we need immigration reform that rewards work, that gives people a pathway to citizenship, that allows families to stay together," Villaraigosa told the crowd.
But he drew jeers when he added: "Now that you've come, it's important that you go back to school."
Of course the kids 'jeered'

"We are illegal immigrants if you trace our heritage all the way back, but we are here and we are working and we are living the American dream," said Janet Padron, a 22-year-old Allen Park resident.

Not my family, we came here LEGALLY.

"Do you see the community?" Padron asked, pointing to the thousands of people around her. "Do you see how many people didn't go to work today?"

Lets see:
High school students work when in school ... nope
Teachers and administrors ... maybe
College students ... nope
Detroit ... unemployment rate of 7.6%, good chance of some having no work and plenty of time to 'protest'

Through my work I have to go out into the field to take notes, and the times I was out this past week I did keep an extra eye out for these missing kids.
My prayers and thoughts are with the families of these 2 boys.

Headlines

Headline in the MJS "State to secretly test W-2 program". Whaaaaat? How can you secretly test when you make a public announcement saying you are going to secretly test? It's no longer a secret then.
After getting past that messy headline, the state is going to use secret shoppers ala private sector business. Great, now will they use this for other agency's? I know of several that could use this sort of thing. Like the DMV, DNR, DOT, the Guv and Legislature.

COB XXX - The short version

This weeks COB is based on the tale by Hans Christian Anderson titled The Loveliest Rose in the World. It is a little long, but it is shorter than what I had originally planned to use (thanks Aaron and Belle).

THERE lived once a great queen, in whose garden were found at all seasons the most splendid flowers, and from every land in the world. She specially loved roses, and therefore she possessed the most beautiful varieties of this flower, from the wild hedge-rose, with its apple-scented leaves, to the splendid Provence rose. They grew near the shelter of the walls, wound themselves round columns and window-frames, crept along passages and over the ceilings of the halls. They were of every fragrance and color.

But care and sorrow dwelt within these halls; the queen lay upon a sick bed, and the doctors declared that she must die. “There is still one thing that could save her,” said one of the wisest among them. “Bring her the loveliest rose in the world; one which exhibits the purest and brightest love, and if it is brought to her before her eyes close, she will not die.”

Then from all parts came those who brought roses that bloomed in every garden, but they were not the right sort. The flower must be one from the garden of love; but which of the roses there showed forth the highest and purest love? The poets sang of this rose, the loveliest in the world, and each named one which he considered worthy of that title; and intelligence of what was required was sent far and wide to every heart that beat with love; to every class, age, and condition.

“No one has yet named the flower,” said the wise man. “No one has pointed out the spot where it blooms in all its splendor. It is not a rose from the coffin of Romeo and Juliet, or from the grave of Walburg, though these roses will live in everlasting song. It is not one of the roses which sprouted forth from the blood-stained fame of Winkelreid. The blood which flows from the breast of a hero who dies for his country is sacred, and his memory is sweet, and no rose can be redder than the blood which flows from his veins. Neither is it the magic flower of Science, to obtain which wondrous flower a man devotes many an hour of his fresh young life in sleepless nights, in a lonely chamber.”

“I know where it blooms,” said a happy mother, who came with her lovely child to the bedside of the queen. “I know where the loveliest rose in the world is. It is seen on the blooming cheeks of my sweet child, when it expresses the pure and holy love of infancy; when refreshed by sleep it opens its eyes, and smiles upon me with childlike affection.”

“This is a lovely rose,” said the wise man; “but there is one still more lovely.”

“Yes, one far more lovely,” said one of the women. “I have seen it, and a loftier and purer rose does not bloom. But it was white, like the leaves of a blush-rose. I saw it on the cheeks of the queen. She had taken off her golden crown, and through the long, dreary night, she carried her sick child in her arms. She wept over it, kissed it, and prayed for it as only a mother can pray in that hour of her anguish.”

“Holy and wonderful in its might is the white rose of grief, but it is not the one we seek.”

“No; the loveliest rose in the world I saw at the Lord’s table,” said the good old bishop. “I saw it shine as if an angel’s face had appeared. A young maiden knelt at the altar, and renewed the vows made at her baptism; and there were white roses and red roses on the blushing cheeks of that young girl. She looked up to heaven with all the purity and love of her young spirit, in all the expression of the highest and purest love.”

“May she be blessed!” said the wise man: “but no one has yet named the loveliest rose in the world.”

Then there came into the room a child—the queen’s little son. Tears stood in his eyes, and glistened on his cheeks; he carried a great book and the binding was of velvet, with silver clasps. “Mother,” cried the little boy; “only hear what I have read.” And the child seated himself by the bedside, and read from the book of Him who suffered death on the cross to save all men, even who are yet unborn. He read, “Greater love hath no man than this,” and as he read a roseate hue spread over the cheeks of the queen, and her eyes became so enlightened and clear, that she saw from the leaves of the book a lovely rose spring forth, a type of Him who shed His blood on the cross.

“I see it,” she said. “He who beholds this, the loveliest rose on earth, shall never die.”

New Town

I saw this headline on The Milwaukee Channel's web site: New Florida Town Plans Abortion, Porn, Birth Contol Bans. I thought cool; someone is taking a stand on their morals and decided to include others. This town is called Ave Maria and is being bankrolled by Thomas Monaghan of Domino’s fame and Barron Collier Co.

The detractors claim this plan is unconstitutional and they promise lawsuits. This is country club Christianity," said Frances Kissling, president of the liberal Washington, D.C.-based Catholics for a Free Choice, which opposes the church's bans on abortion and birth control. She likened the town's concept to Islamic fundamentalism and teaching intolerance. "This is un-American," Kissling said. "I don't think in a democratic society you can have a legally organized township that will seek to have any kind of public service whatsoever and try to restrict the constitutional rights of citizens."

From what I read on Ave Maria's website this town is being built with private funds ONLY. The only services that will be contracted out to a governmental agency are police and fire. So what is the real problem? I know the left loves porn, abortion, birth control, and other family unfriendly ideas. To link these people to Islamic fundamentalism and intolerance, shows that Kissling is intolerant and is religiously devoid.

Salt Lake City was founded by a religion, and is still dominated by it. Do we declare that city un-American and unconstitutional, then bulldoze the city over and rebuild and repopulate it with a population reflecting the overall U.S. demographics? Do we stop any “planned” communities that have restrictions over property rights? NO, and these places are thriving despite the fact that the have rules that might be unconstitutional.

States, cities and towns all around the U.S. are placing restrictions on constitutional rights of citizens all the time (smoking bans, firearms). So why not start a community with a set of morals and rules that the people who will move there agree upon from the start?

Burglar swipes urine samples from corrections office

By JACQUELINE SEIBEL
jseibel@journalsentinel.com
Posted: Feb. 22, 2006

Waukesha - Someone broke into the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole office and stole at least six urine samples from a locked refrigerator, authorities said Wednesday.

The samples were part of the state's supervision program in which probation and parole agents, as part of holding offenders accountable, can require random urine samples, said John Dipko, corrections department spokesman.

Samples are often taken in the office, Dipko said.

Once samples are tested for the presence of alcohol or controlled substances, the results show whether offenders have been complying with the rules of their court-imposed supervision, Dipko explained.

Agents will review the cases for which urine samples are missing and will order new ones taken as necessary, Dipko said. He said he did not know if the six samples stolen were all of those being stored in the office at 1900 Pewaukee Road.

Entry was made sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning, said Waukesha police Capt. Mike Babe. Authorities were called to the office at 7:19 a.m. Tuesday when a door was discovered to be broken and the urine samples were found to be missing, Babe said.

The Department of Corrections is conducting an internal investigation, Dipko said. Nothing else appears to have been stolen from the office, he said.

I would not like to meet this perp or shake their hands. Why would this office STORE the samples and how many did they have? Nothing else was taken as far as police and workers know. Hmmmm, parolees that need to give samples, samples dissapear, I don't have a clue as to who took them.

MPS Waterfollies - Part II

Working in the private sector, I see the need for well-educated and prepared people. That is why I wrote MPS Waterfollies, and that is why I think some people out there did not understand my point.

  • I was pointing out the perception of the taxpayers of MPS and WEAC.
  • I am not against rebuilding a school that is falling apart. What my point was and is the cost of the pool and its maintenance could have been used in the classroom for the children. I have seen schools first hand because I had worked in a charter school and I do know good teachers, and all they want is books, paper, and other supplies so they can give the kids a great education.
  • I would also like to point out that the article in question did mention that the pool was used not exclusively for those who needed therapy, but it used by all students. Supposedly, the reason for adding the pool was to provide therapy for those who need it.
  • I am not advocating that the pool needs to be drained.
  • Yes, I demand, I demand that MPS does not waste money; I demand that MPS TEACH our kids, I demand that my hard-earned dollars be spent wisely.
  • I do not have children. I do have nephews and nieces that are in school. My extended family and I do want the best education possible for them. So do not use the argument of If you do not have kids in public school, you should not comment on the subject. That argument does not hold any weight.
  • Budgets are tight. This is true for both the government and individuals.

No Fun

An example of you cant have fun in Wisconsin, However, it may save a child’s life. Excerpts taken from the JSonline article When snowballs are outlawed posted 8-Feb-2006.

South Milwaukee Police Chief Ann Wellens won't assign her officers to be on the lookout for snowball-lobbing scofflaws, but a city law that bans the activity could put a big chill on an offender's wallet if a $200 ticket is issued.

Throwing a snowball is equated with shooting an arrow or throwing a stone in municipal codes around the state.

She said many people aren't aware of the ordinance, which reads in South Milwaukee's code book:

"No person shall throw, shoot or propel any object, arrow, stone, snowball or other missile or projectile by hand or other means, at any person or at, in, or into any building, street, sidewalk, alley, highway, park, playground or any other public place."

South Milwaukee City Attorney Joe Murphy said he could recall only once in 22 years when the ordinance was enforced. That was a year or two ago when middle school kids threw a snowball "that had more ice than snow in it" and a girl was hit in the face. She suffered a minor cut, he said. The possible penalty for juvenile offenders is $55, he said.

Similar wording has been crafted in other area communities, including Cudahy, St. Francis, Glendale, Whitefish Bay, Cudahy, Town of Fredonia, Muskego, Village of Sussex, Brookfield, Cedarburg and Burlington. The City of Milwaukee does not have an ordinance to legislate snowballs, according to its Legislative Reference Bureau.

I have an addition to these and other “nanny” laws; have the parents buy the same gear that paintballer’s use or full body armor and have all the children wear the gear all year. That way kids would not get hurt from anything. Afterall, this is for the children.

Hey, did someone Stepp on a duck?

This was on the JS website February 15, 2006. Comments by me are in red.

Bill would prohibit government workers from retaliating
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A state legislator wants to make it a misdemeanor crime for state or local employees to retaliate against people applying for a permit or requesting some other government action or service.
Is this really a problem?
Sen. Cathy Stepp, R-Sturtevant, was targeting the main permit-granting agencies in the state with her measure, said her chief of staff, Jay Risch.
"These are the agencies that have to be responsible to their customers - the taxpayers trying to get a permit," Risch said.
Stepp's bill also would require offices to post signs explaining the rights of applicants.
Under the measure, violations would carry a maximum punishment of a year in jail and a $5,000 fine.
Who pays this fine and what agency will do the enforcement?
Risch acknowledged he could not provide an example of such retaliation.
Stepp introduced the bill after a public hearing held by a Senate committee looking at possible regulatory reforms for the Department of Natural Resources. Stepp sits on the committee.
OK, If there are no examples of this problem why the possible law?
Paul Heinen, a policy adviser to Natural Resources Secretary Scott Hassett, said Stepp's bill is unnecessary and too vague.
"It is hard to do an analysis because the language is very broad and vague," Heinen said. "It is difficult to tell how we are to do it. For instance, they say you have to post a sign in an office, but how does that help when we give permits on properties? Are they going to have to wear a sandwich board?"
Heinen said his agency has no reports of retaliation.
Stepp's bill would need approval from both houses of the Legislature and Gov. Jim Doyle before it could become law.

My suggestion to our reps in all levels of government is stop making new laws like this. The DNR is mentioned as the agency in need of reform but this proposed law will not fix the problems with that agency.

Deny this

For those on the left that still claim that there was no voter fraud and/or illegal voting in the last election these came straight from the JSonline:
MONDAY, Feb. 13, 2006, 5:43 p.m.
By Derrick Nunnally

Man pleads guilty to voting illegally

The second of two felons charged by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office with voting illegally in the 2004 presidential election pleaded guilty today.

Kevin L. Cameron, 35, of the 1700 block ofN. 18th St., was still on parole for a 2001 felony fleeing conviction when he cast his ballot. He now faces more time behind bars at a March 17 sentencing. District Attorney Bruce Landgraf is to recommend Cameron serve 45 days in the county House of Correction under the plea agreement.

Cameron's conviction follows that of of Daryl Robinson, 29, of the 2900 block of N. 48th St., in December for the same offense in the November 2004 election. Robinson was sentenced to 120 days in the House of Correction.

Landgraf said his office is still investigating other apparent instances of felons voting in that election based on a review of voter records.

Project Vote worker pleads guilty to forgery

One of two voter-registration workers charged with turning in bogus registration cards before the November 2004 elections pleaded guilty today to forgery and was sentenced to 45 days in jail and a year of probation.

Marcus L. Lewis, 24, of the 800 block of W. Galena St. in Milwaukee, had been charged with five felony counts election fraud, misconduct in office and three counts of forgery and pleaded guilty to one forgery count in exchange for the other charges being dropped.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, Lewis was fired by Project Vote after he got caught submitting a registration card in the name of a dead person While he was a paid worker for the national voter-registration organization, Lewis had previously turned in duplicate cards for the same voter on "numerous" occasions, the complaint alleged.

In sentencing Lewis, Reserve Judge Russell W. Stamper Sr. ordered a two-year stayed sentence one year in prison, one year on extended supervision that Lewis faces if he breaks probation.

The other Project Vote worker similarly charged with election fraud, Urelene Lilly, 48, is scheduled for trial in March.

CEO PAY

I just read a few blogs that are talking about putting caps on CEO pay. True some are paid millions and get great benefits. That is not an issue that should be managed by the government. Most CEO’s have worked their way to that position and negotiate with the companies they will manage. Do these same people want to limit other peoples pay through legislation? Should we limit sports stars, reporters, movie/TV stars, engineers, lawyers, etc also? Hmmmmm no talk about those but it is the greedy businessperson that needs to be slapped down. I am also sick and tired of being told that business execs are bad because they only think of the bottom line and not the people they manage. I hope to be back in those ranks soon and I do not just look at the bottom line. Bottom line is everyone has greed in them.

MPS Waterfollies

With MPS and WEAC complaining about how tight budgets have been for decades and we need to pony up more dollars to pay to keep programs like Art, Music, and Sports going, I found another reason why some people think MPS and WEAC spends and wastes money on a regular basis. In the online version of the MSJ the headline reads “Water's fine for figuring” the tagline is “School uses pool to make kids comfortable with numbers” The story is about how one school is using swimming in a pool to help kids learn math. “Like little Jacques Cousteau’s, the children show no fear as they dive for fish, sea horses and other exciting treasure. “ Nice spin by the writer.“As they splash around in one of the state's only elementary school pools, the 4-year-olds at Milwaukee's Gaenslen School are learning the basics of two skills that would frighten many adults five times their size: swimming and math.” “Gaenslen has a particularly high population of students with special needs, about 40%, many of whom also receive therapy in the pool.” Ok, more spin. While at first glance this is a good idea on the surface, What the ‘reporter’ glanced over was that MPS spent money on a pool while complaining the district was having financial difficulties. The question is why MPS thought it was a good idea to spend money on a swimming pool in an elementary school instead of using that money for things like books, supplies for the children, or other essential educational equipment. I do see that some of the children need therapy but MPS should not be in the business of medical therapy they should stick to the educational needs of the students.

Movie Review

We watched a couple of movies today Flight Plan and The Corpse Bride. Flight Plan was on my must see list and I was not disappointed in it. The plot summary is "In this modern retelling of a classic urban legend, a mother finds herself at odds with a unremitting flight crew and her own sanity when her daughter vanishes in the middle of a flight, with only a few clues left behind. She must now challenge the boundaries of her will and her mind in her desperate search." Jodie Foster gives another great performance in a very good movie. The Corpse Bride was OK. It reminded me of The Nightmare Before Christmas, same animation and types of characters. However, it killed(pardon the pun) a 76 mins on a boring Saturday before the championship game in pro football.

Pair Ran Brothel Across Street From Police Station

Officers in Concord, Calif., didn't have to go far to bust a brothel. The house of ill repute was across the street from the police station. Now, a married couple has pleaded guilty to running the house. Debra Watts, 52, will serve one year of home detention for pimping and pandering. Her husband Ernest, 63, pleaded to a misdemeanor count of maintaining a house of prostitution.Police said the hookers who operated out of the place charged $160 for a half hour and split the money with the couple.Surveillance of the apartment revealed a Monday-through-Friday operation in which women would arrive by 10 a.m. and leave by 7 p.m. Men would enter and leave throughout the day, staying for about 30 minutes at a time, according to the affidavit. How long was this going on??

Clouseau is Real

Inspector Jacques Clouseau is alive and on the loose!

French police take 2 years to uncover time of death

BREST, France (AFP) — French police who spent two years trying to identify a woman who was murdered by a blow to the head were relieved to discover the reason their efforts were failing: the woman died half a millennium ago. The skeleton of a woman in her 30s was found during an exceptionally low tide in December 2003 near the seaside Brittany town of Plouezoc'h. A long gash in the skull convinced investigators she was killed with a hatchet or other sharp implement. Police ploughed through missing persons' files to no avail. A theory that the woman was the wife of a Normandy doctor who disappeared with his family in a famous 1999 case was dismissed after DNA tests. Eventually radiocarbon dating established that the death had occurred between 1401 and 1453. "We are satisfied because at least we know the date now," said Francois Gerthosser of the Plourin-les-Morlaix police. "We reckon it was pirates."

Weapon Carry law

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett was spotted over the weekend! He and other anti-PPA people had a press conference over at State Fair Park. They were/are claiming we will have wild west type situations at all the festivals because the act does not include these events in the ‘banned’ areas. This is another way from the left to take away from the law-abiding citizens their constitutional right to bear arms and to protect themselves and their families using any means they so choose. The JS has this in their article: Under the bill, people 21 and older would be allowed to carry concealed weapons after passing a course, provided they had not been convicted of felonies or certain misdemeanors, such as for domestic violence. Among the places people would be able to carry firearms are the grounds of State Fair Park and Summerfest.I am not a lawyer, but I do see a loophole in the law that gives the examples a way to ban weapons. Hint, these are government owned facilities.Instead of opening up the way for people to carry concealed weapons, Barrett said, the Legislature should be working to rid Wisconsin of illegal guns. There are laws on the books that prevent the sales of weapons to certain people; the people committing crimes with weapons do not care about those or any other laws and that makes it illegal. In addition, is it not the job of the local and state police to enforce the laws set forth?

Heating Bill

You think our WE-Energy bills were high.

ZANESVILLE, Ohio - Lewis Miller joked with his son as he opened his gas bill that the amount likely would give him a heart attack. Then, he saw that The Energy Cooperative of Newark had billed him $8,095 for the first nine days of service on his new account for his apartment.

"I thought I was just going to lay down and die," Miller said. He then had an anxious weekend because he received the bill Friday and couldn't get a hold of the gas company until Monday.

When Miller reached the Energy Cooperative, the error was corrected.

Brian Byrd, a spokesman for the utility, said the company apologized to Miller for its mistake.

"These things are very rare, but they can happen," Byrd said.

The company suspects that a contractor mixed up or misread the numbers while taking a reading of Miller's meter. The information is downloaded into a computer that checks for billing errors by looking at what a customer was charged in the past. Since Miller's account was new, there was nothing to compare it to, Byrd said.

I added the emphasis. Sure blame a contractor don't blame the computer. How bad do you have to mix up the numbers to get that kind of number, if its true?I found this at Yahoo! news

Mark Reardon

Mark Reardon

WTMJ truly regrets to announce that Mark Reardon has left Newsradio 620 WTMJ, effective immediately. His leaving is the result of 2006 station budget adjustments.Mark has been a loyal, hard-working employee and we sincerely thank him for his years of service to WTMJ.Mark has certainly been a favorite of many listeners. Both listeners and the station will miss him. We wish him the best.

When I read this my initial reaction was shock. After thinking about it, it does make sense (sorry Mark). But mangements blaming it on "budget adjustments" can not the whole story.

This station carries the Bucks, Brewers, Badgers and the Packers and they pay to broadcast those games. I suspect that the Bucks and the Brewers cut into the time slot that Mark was in, in turn his program was not generating the income wanted by the mangement. Too bad, I enjoyed his program when I was able to listen.

A cause to back

This is an old cause that we need to bring back to the forefront. BAN DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE!Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death.Dihydrogen monoxide:
  • is also known as hydroxl acid, and is the major component of acid rain.
  • contributes to the "greenhouse effect."
  • may cause severe burns.
  • contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
  • accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
  • may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
  • has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.
Contamination is reaching epidemic proportions!Quantities of dihydrogen monoxide have been found in almost every stream, lake, and reservoir in America today. But the pollution is global, and the contaminant has even been found in Antarctic ice. DHMO has caused millions of dollars of property damage in the midwest, and recently California.Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
  • as an industrial solvent and coolant.
  • in nuclear power plants.
  • in the production of styrofoam.
  • as a fire retardant.
  • in many forms of cruel animal research.
  • in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
  • as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.

Companies dump waste DHMO into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal. The impact on wildlife is extreme, and we cannot afford to ignore it any longer! The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its "importance to the economic health of this nation." In fact, the navy and other military organizations are conducting experiments with DHMO, and designing multi-billion dollar devices to control and utilize it during warfare situations. Hundreds of military research facilities receive tons of it through a highly sophisticated underground distribution network. Many store large quantities for later use.

Why I Blog

In the last several weeks I have revealed that I blog to several friends and associates. The general reaction has been unbelief and/or disdain. Oh, you are on of those, is the most common statement. Then the question of what kind of things do you post is next, and what makes you qualified to blog? Well, I answer with the following:
  • I write about anything I want to talk about
  • I have opinions
  • If I see something wrong I want to get the word out
  • If I see something going well I want to get the word out
  • The local newspaper will not or can not publish everything I or others send to them in the letters to the Editor section
  • Therapy. The last time I was unemployed, I started a diary on my computer that helped to keep me upbeat.
My qualifications or right to blog
  • I am not trained as a reporter and do not represent myself as one, but I can write in coherent sentences
  • I am a citizen of the United States of America
  • The First Amendment gives me the right
  • I have opinions and views on matters that affect me or my family
  • I have a vested interest in what my country does both internally and globally
  • My Beliefs

If you agree or disagree with the opinions expressed, that is no big deal to me. For the most part, we bloggers do not bash opposing views or people, but want a fair and honest debate on the issues that affect us all. Most blogs that I read and have seen are trying to get the other side of the story out into the public. We citizens of this wonderful country have the right and duty to voice or opinions(no matter how assinine). The general public and the mainstream media does not get that point. The MSM has dismissed the blogger and tries to limit or eliminate the forum. Yet, blogging has grown in numbers and include the some of the same MSM people that put this forum down to begin with.BLOG ON!

Tire problem

I got this from Fox 6 Police Hunt For Tire Slashing Vandals(Milwaukee, January 13, 2006) Police still don't know what sent a pair of teenagers on a tire-slashing spree. It happened overnight on Milwaukee's south side near 18th and Arthur. The vandals cut 38 tires... in all they wrecked 17 cars. Police found and arrested the teenagers in a house nearby. A lot of their victims had to take off of work to fix the flat tires. Some say they don't have car insurance or enough money to repair their cars. Neighbors say vandalism to cars isn't uncommon on their block. The teenagers could be charged with felony damage to property. This copy from Channel 12's site:
POSTED: 6:25 pm CST January 13, 2006
Dozens of people in one south side Milwaukee neighborhood awoke Friday morning to find their car tires slashed.Vandals hit 21 vehicles parked along the street near 18th and Arthur.Ramiro Aguilar said he heard a sound early in the morning and called 911.About three-dozen tires were damaged. Police said the damage appears to have been done with a knife.Police arrested two adult men after finding them hiding in a house in the neighborhood. They face charges of criminal damage to property. This is from the JS:Your eyes and computer are not missing anything, the JS declined to print anything(online) on the story. The questions are: 1) How old are these people? One story has them as teens, the other as adults. 2) How long before these people see a trial or court date?

Cycle Bug

I am getting the get out the bike bug. It is warm enough to not snow, yet cold enough not to take the motorcycle out of storage. I have seen a couple of bikes on the road in the last several days, and that is probably why I am getting that bug. My mind has been going crazy with thoughts of driving on some back roads, getting fresh air in my lungs, bugs in my face and the small towns that I ‘discover’.
I used to take drives in my cars, but I never truly have had the same feeling I get from the bike. In my SUV, I cannot fully enjoy the smells and the world around me. On the bike, I am able to enjoy the scenery and smells that are out there. I am notice more things riding that I ignore while in the SUV. Things like how the roads really drive, how a farmers field really smells, and how people react to motorcycles.
If in the spring to fall I do not blog for several days, I will probably be on the bike. If you see a Vulcan or any other types of bike please give some space. It is just me or one of my fellow bikers enjoying the day.

Irony By Kane

In reviewing Eugene Kane’s blog, I came upon something very ironic. In October, he wrote:

MONDAY, Oct. 24, 2005, 2:16 p.m.Definitely not the Olsen twins I missed the ABC News special on these twins, upcoming teen music stars with the unique distinction of being white nationalists who sing songs about preserving the white race and raised money to help victims of Hurrican Katrina - but only the white people.I was shocked at the tale of these young singers spreading racist hate but maybe I shouldn't be.I would be interested if readers think this is a good thing or something more ominous. It's amazing to me such angelic looking children are being used for such a disturbing mission.

I hear the same talk from so-called leaders and ‘artists’ in the black community. Like Louis Farrakhan, his speeches and views are equal to the KKK and the like. How about good old Michael McGee who back in his prime (and still going on) was and is blatantly racist and advocated violence to disrupt ‘white peoples fun’. Yet Kane does not really denounce those, using the free speech or the race card as an argument. Racism no matter who says it is BAD.
OH BTW Mr. Kane, use the spell checker on your computer. It is Hurricane not Hurrican.

Airport

MMAC proposed and two legislators have drafted a bill to take control and ownership away from Milwaukee county of Mitchell International and give it to a regional board set up by the state. According to the article in the JS “Timmerman Airport, also owned by Milwaukee County and also located in Milwaukee, would be governed by the new airport authority, as well. But the authority would not take over other publicly owned small airports in the seven-county region, such as Waukesha County's Crites Field, West Bend Municipal Airport, and Kenosha Regional Airport.” The reason why “Stone said the authority would be mandatory for Mitchell because of its regional and statewide economic importance, and Timmerman would be included because it shares Mitchell's fee revenue. But other airports may get some property tax support and wouldn't fit as well into an authority without taxing power, he said.” (http://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/dec05/381336.asp). The public statements by MMAC and the legislators involved in drafting the proposal claim it is for the greater good of the region. However, the real agendas I can see are to 1. Mess with Scott Walker in his bid to become Gov. and 2. Have another taxing agency. The legislators and MMAC claim now that this board will have no taxing authority, but that can change in a hurry when the taxers get control of the airports. They will use the same logic later to include the others and to make it a taxing authority. This will not happen immediately, I think it will happen within five maybe 7 years. As far as messing with Scott Walker, this move will make it appear that he cannot govern or control anything under his watch, and cannot be trusted to run the state or even the county if he loses his bid to become gov. If MMAC and others are truly concerned over the greater good of the region, do not go after what is successful go after what is not working.

Ironic

It has been brought to my attention that there is an ironic situation here. Yes, I wrote an anti-evolution piece and yet I have a link to the Darwin awards. At the time it did not dawn on me as to the irony of the situation. The awards are a collection of stupid human stories that are named for the man that brought evolution into main stream thinking. I am not opposed to the idea of evolution, but my point is that it is not the only 'theory' to life on this planet (or others). Thank you Elliot from www.fromwhereisit.org for pointing it out.
